Democratic Leadership
Jane Garibay
State Representative (District 60)
Jane Garibay is running for reelection to the 60th district in the State House of Representatives, representing Windsor and Windsor Locks. Garibay says, “My many years of experience working with people in business, education, budgeting, and teamwork make me an ideal candidate.
Jane's Mission
The key to successfully representing the residents of Windsor and Windsor Locks is to be attuned to the issues that affect them, such as jobs, transit-oriented development, and the state budget. It’s important to have integrity, honesty, and common sense.” When it comes to working with her constituents, Jane will emphasize listening, learning, and acting.
My life, with the variety of people and businesses I’ve worked with, all the boards I’ve been on, and all the volunteer work I’ve been involved in, have all prepared me to do this job. I know that Windsor and Windsor Locks have many of the same challenges. And in talking with many people from Windsor and Windsor Locks, I know that they have more similarities than differences. We all need good jobs. We all need affordable healthcare. And we all want a responsible state budget. These are achievable goals and I plan to work with our legislators, on both sides of the aisle, to make them happen.
Dan Mara
Tobacco Valley Probate Court Judge.
For more than 35 years, I've worked to understand my client's issues and find effective practicable solutions. I am running to bring that wide-ranging experience and temperament to the probate court.
About Dan Mara
The Probate Court holds a special place in my life. Two of my best days centered around the court hearings where Lesley and I adopted our two children. I have also seen less happy times in Probate Court dealing with family estates and while representing clients in contested matters, appointing conservators, and terminating parental rights. The Probate Court touches almost everybody, and most people approach the court without counsel during challenging family and personal circumstances. They deserve to be seen, heard, and helped.
I help my clients to make decisions and grow their businesses. They seek my counsel to resolve disputes, provide for their families, and protect their legacies. My clients range from regional nonprofit agencies to family businesses to individuals, and I’ve been invited into their business, financial, and family concerns. My clients buy and develop properties. I’ve helped Towns reserve farms and open space land. I recently helped a nonprofit to acquire property and to create an innovative new form of short-term emergency shelter in Hartford. My clients buy businesses and then pass them on from one generation to the next. I help clients settle disputes in and outside of court. I also offer pro bono legal services for young people involved with the Department of Children and Families through my long-term association with Lawyers for Children America. I have been a lawyer since 1985. I am rated as “superb” by AVVO® and as a “Connecticut Super Lawyer”® in commercial litigation. I am an attorney trial referee in the Superior Court.
